Who are YPP?

YPP is a relatively young and forward thinking lettings business, specialising in student and professional accommodation. Properties range from flats to houses in Hyde Park, Headingley and Leeds city centre. The company prides itself on offering an honest service, using a ‘no commission’ model for staff to ensure residents get the property that’s right for them.

YPP is accredited by the Leeds Landlords Accreditation Scheme, which has independently rated the company as going above minimum health and safety standards. To further demonstrate its commitment to maintaining high standards of living for residents, YPP is also rolling out the Unipol National Code of professional standards for managing large student developments across relevant schemes.

When it came to the refurbishment of two residential apartment blocks in Leeds city centre in 2015, YPP approached us on the basis of our high standard of work, a long-standing relationship and previous track record of successful projects for the company and our network cabling, access control and home automation expertise.

The Dynamic solution

Working through main contractor, Broadley Group, our team installed a full data cabling infrastructure (including high speed CAT6 cabling and a fibre backbone) throughout the Q1 (84 apartments) and Q2 (71 apartments) buildings, alongside internal and external CCTV coverage and a full door entry system.

The CCTV system provides complete coverage in the grounds of the two buildings as well as all communal areas, including corridors and lifts.

As well as covering individual apartments, the door entry system includes electric gates, automated barriers to control vehicle entry to the sites and roller shutters on the indoor car park.

Our team also designed and installed a wireless mesh network, connecting the two buildings and enabling the creation of a centrally managed ‘virtual concierge’ service. In practice, this connects the CCTV and access control systems and allows the concierge to operate the door entry technology on either site, regardless of where he/she is located.

The benefits

As well as delivering comprehensive site security for residents, this project has laid the foundations for future developments to offer full home automation functionality for residents, should they/YPP choose. Potential upgrades include energy consumption management tools and full remote heating, lighting and home entertainment system control.

In addition, the installation of SIP trunking (a Voice over Internet Protocol – VoIP - and streaming media service) offers the ability for residents to control door access remotely using a smartphone or tablet, enabling them to – for example – accept deliveries when they’re not at home.
